The Westfield PAL sponsors competitive tackle football travel teams for 3rd - 8th graders.

The teams will participate in the North Jersey Suburban Youth Football League (NJSYFL).

All registrants will be placed according to their grade in September 2026 (there are no tryouts).

The season will kick off with a mandatory "Training Camp" that will commence on August 10, 2026.

As the success of the Westfield PAL youth athletic programs has continued to grow over the past several years, the need for volunteer help has continued to increase. Going forward, we are asking all participating families to play a small role in helping out our volunteer coaches, staff and directors. 

As a condition of your child's registration with the PAL, at least one parent or guardian for each participating family (who isn't on the coaching staff) may be asked to assist during practices, games or match days at some point during the season. These non-coach volunteers will be part of a support pool managed by a team parent with volunteer schedules set at the beginning of the year.

Assuming full participation, we don't believe this will be a huge ask; especially considering our coaches and directors will be putting in countless hours of work on a weekly basis. If there are days you are unavailable to volunteer or have a special circumstance that prevents you from volunteering, please note this in the Team Staff section and we will try and accommodate your situation.

Volunteer duties include game day chain operation (chain gang), team Mom/ Dad, spotters and announcers as well as concession sales. If you are interested in being an administrative team parent or coach, please note that in the Team Staff section of registration.

Our mission is to empower girls to work together as a team in a fun and safe (non-contact) environment while developing a love of flag football. Our league supports positive values and promotes health, wellness, and self-esteem to inspire and motivate girls to succeed both on and off the field.

 

We are looking to grow Girls Flag Football in Westfield, provide athletic gear, training for coaches and team building activities. Our league also promotes personal health and continues to enhance the program and overall experience. In recognition of our important role in the community, we will be partnering with local charities that share our mission.

 

 

The Westfield PAL Girls Flag Football League rang in our Inaugural Season in September 2022, and had an even more successful 2023, 2024 & 2025 Fall Seasons with more than 350 girls participating. We are now gearing up for the 2026 Fall Season. We are among the first girls flag football programs in NJ and excited to bring this sport to our town. Interest in girls flag football is exploding worldwide, and it is now an official Olympic sport for 2028. Nike and the NY Jets are sponsoring Girls High School Flag Football throughout NY and NJ, and in the Spring of 2026, Westfield High School Girls will be playing its fourth season in the Big Central Conference!

 

Girls Flag Football is a sanctioned Varsity Sport in NJ as of May 4th for the spring of the 2027 high school season

 

 

 

 

When: Sunday, September 13th, 2026, and every Saturday* for the next 10 weeks through November 22nd (excluding Teachers Convention Weekend 11/7/26), from 11:45am - 1:00pm

 

Where: Tamaques Park

 

What: The first 30 minutes will be team practice, while the last 45 minutes will be a game

 

Who: The program is for 2nd - 8th grade Westfield residents only. One division will be 2nd - 3rd graders, another division will be 4th - 5th graders, while the other division will be 6th - 8th graders. Friend requests MUST be reciprocal. Limit one friend request. *All girls will receive an officially licensed National Football League (NFL) flag football jersey and flag belt (and swag from our sponsors)!

 

We have big plans and ideas for the upcoming Westfield PAL Girls Flag Football season and beyond, which can only be achieved through community support and involvement. Parent volunteers and coaches are the backbone of any youth sports program, and we are looking for moms, dads, and teens to volunteer their time to help make the program a huge success. We would like to have at least one female coach on every team.

All games are played at Tamaques Park located off Lamberts Mill Road in Westfield (Tamaques Park is also accessible from Dickson Drive). The 2026 season kicks off on Sunday September 13th and concludes on November 21st; Playoffs for our older division ends on November 22nd.

Our 1st Grade-Only Division was a HUGE success. The feedback from both kids and coaches was that it created an outstanding environment for learning and fun. It was a great introduction to the program.

The PAL Cheerleading Program is open to rising 3rd through 8th graders.

This is an excellent opportunity to introduce your young athlete to this sport, learn cheers, dances, and stunts in preparation for high school and/or competitive cheerleading. Cheerleading provides a great opportunity for kids to improve their coordination, increase strength, and have fun along the way.  

Our programs focus is on learning the fundamentals of Cheerleading, instilling solid values and having fun! PAL sponsors the following programs: 

ELEMENTARY and MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAMS - Grades 3rd – 8th: 

This program is for both beginner and experienced cheerleaders in grades 3rd – 8th. Cheerleaders are taught the basics of the sport, while developing cheer skills, safety, teamwork, and leadership skills with an emphasis on having fun. Registration cost includes the cheer camps, team practices, practice shirts, team bows, the rental of the team uniform and pompoms.
